High acuity patients require more thorough and closer monitoring from healthcare providers. These patients have high physical and psychological needs and soaring illness severity and intensity. They experience challenging medical conditions with significant and unpredictable needs. The acuity of patients and illnesses seems to be increasing, and the project will seek to determine the projection of high acuity illnesses, causes, and possible solutions. Peer-reviewed resources will be the most appropriate in investigating this issue. A structured search will help find peer-reviewed sources that investigate the trajectory, causes, consequences, or solutions of increasing acuity of patients. Peer-reviewed resources are highly reliable because they have undergone scrutiny from experts (Washington State University, n.d.). They are more valid and suitable to research topics for having undergone a rigorous review process. They also have the most references. They provide a trusted scientific communication. Scientific research builds on itself cumulatively, a reason why trust is specifically essential.(Evidence Based Practice Projects Comprehensive Nursing Discussion Essay Examples)

Morley (2018) investigates emergency department crowding, identifying causes, consequences, and solutions. The article’s results identify increased complexity and acuity of patients as a cause of emergency department crowding. I will evaluate the source’s currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose based on the CRAAP test. The CRAAP test is critical in research resource evaluation to ensure it is trustworthy. Evaluating sources using this test reduces the likelihood of utilizing unreliable information. A researcher can identify the source of information and whether it is supported by evidence and reviewed or referenced (Duquesne University, n.d.). Researchers can also determine if other sources very the information and whether it demonstrates any bias. Based on the CRAAP test, my article is current because it was published on August 30, 2018. The material is also relevant because it answers my question on the increasing acuity of patients, and the information is at the appropriate level. I would be comfortable using this source in my investigation. The article has authority because the authors are highly qualified to write on this topic. Authors Claire Morley, Maria Unwin, Leigh Kinsman are affiliated to the School of Health Sciences and College of Health and Medicine, University of Tasmania, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Authors Gregory M. Peterson and Jim Stankovich are affiliated to the School of Medicine and College of Health and Medicine, University of Tasmania, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The article is peer-reviewed, meaning its information is accurate and trusted. The article’s purpose is also clear, and it seeks to inform and teach on the topic.  (Evidence Based Practice Projects Comprehensive Nursing Discussion Essay Examples)

Proper citation in research is fundamental as it gives credit to authors of the ideas and words that people incorporate in their research papers. Using citations helps readers locate the sources comfortably to learn more about ideas the author has incorporated (University of Nebraska Kearney, n.d.). Many authors fail to include citations or sometimes cite incorrectly. Authors need to cite every original knowledge, including ideas and theories (Peterson, 2019). When an author claims that lack of or improper citation is not a bid deal, it talks volumes about their incredibility and lack of appreciation of other people’s works. This action would reflect negatively on the integrity of the author, the university, and the profession. When a lecturer does not notice a lack of or improper citation, they lack credibility and integrity in the university. Encouraging students to make proper citations makes them good researchers and authors. Citations impact the credibility of the research paper as well.(Evidence Based Practice Projects Comprehensive Nursing Discussion Essay Examples)

Correct use of citation gives the reader the certainty that the research and ideas incorporated in the paper are from credible and reliable sources. It is crucial to do honest work and give original authors credit through the inclusion of proper citation. Lack of citation can also mean the work is not original. Plagiarism has adverse consequences, including students, professionals, and academic reputations’ damage (Mathewson, n.d.). Authors also need an organized citation list, making it easier for readers to access the referenced sources. An author who does not include proper citations or citations at all lacks support for their work, weakening their research. Lack of and improper citation shows a lack of diligence and cursory work. It is worth for such a student to know that citations are crucial for both the reader and the author.(Evidence Based Practice Projects Comprehensive Nursing Discussion Essay Examples)
