The reason why emotional intelligence is important in providing proper leadership is because being able to sympathize and understand what your coworkers are doing and going through allow oneself on what is needed for the situation. Emotional intelligence is then used to allow the nurse to respond in a therapeutic manner (Whitney, 2019). The type of behaviors that someone might use with a high level of self-awareness is that they would be able to collaborate and communicate with their healthcare team in a positive way. An example of this would be if a nurse has a religious background that is against abortion, so the team leader would convey that they would not need to work with that patient as they are uncomfortable with meeting their needs.

Hello Yosia,
I believe emotional intelligence helps nurses respond in a therapeutic manner, not only with patients but with colleges and other healthcare providers. Some facilities incorporate questions in prescreening to see the levels of emotional intelligence of applicants. Self-report tests are the most common, but ability tests are also used. As the name entails, self-report tests are the participant rating and describing their behaviors. Ability tests, on the other hand, involve having people respond to situations and then assessing their skills and are administered by a third party (Cherry, 2020). Having the ability to control, understand, interpret and understand others’ emotions in the healthcare field is a valuable ability that can enhance patient care and improve patient-nurse interactions.

Self-awareness is eperience that one has to take care of her own and needs help. Understanding their strengths in both industry skills and knowledge as well as personal characteristics allows a leader to better perform their responsibilities within an organization (Whitney, 2018)
There are five key attributes that constitutes of the Emotional intelligence and these are self awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. The emotional team leader has a higher chance of being successful, manage relationships in a crisis. Inspiring others and managing conflict may be easier for those leaders who are able to connect on a deeper level.
Emotional intelligence is a good tool to become one of the effective leaders because it has a good standard of having analytical crisis management. Self awareness helps leaders to become successful and make decisions based on a better understanding of oneself and there are behaviors that are put into consideration to become a successful, effective leader and these include staying focused, practicing self-discipline, goal setting and keeping an open mind.

Dorothy,
Emotional intelligence the ability to monitor one’s own and other people’s emotions, to discriminate between different emotions
label them appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior. Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions as well as the emotion of others. Emotional intelligence generally includes at least three skills. Emotional awareness or the ability to identify one’s emotions, the ability to harness those emotions, and apply them to tasks like thinking and problem solving and the ability to manage emotions which include both regulating one’s own emotions when necessary and helping others to do the same. This is studying the way that people act so that they can come up with the best health care possible. Studying the way that people behave will help one come up with a solution that can help someone without even talking to them. it’s a good post.

Emotional intelligence is the ability for the nurse to successfully handle interpersonal conflicts in a therapeutic way. When emotional intelligence is applied the nurse accurately acknowledges emotions from the other person’s expressions by reading their body language, facial expressions and their communication. These traits of emotional intelligence are all crucial for effective leadership. Those developing leadership skills have credited emotional intelligence as a trait linked to safer and more satisfactory working practices. (Whitney, 2018)

Hi Dorothy it is very important for any leader to the traits in emotional intelligence which are social skills, empathy, self awareness, self regulation, and motivation. The reason this is important for a leader to have is so that a better understanding of their team members and work with them on an emotional level (Whitney, 2019). This allows a better relationship with the team and even allowing stronger relationship with the team as a whole. Even as I lead my team at work, it was important to know circumstances as they worked because sometimes they needed to step outside for personal reasons and as a team they would cover for one another.
