WGU MSN Capstone Powerpoint Example

Example of Capstone Project at WGU in MSN

My capstone evidence-based change project PowerPoint presentation was on implementing an evidence-based care bundle to prevent and manage CAUTIs among hospitalized patients with indwelling catheters.

The presentation featured the project’s aims to foster change through EBP to improve care quality and patient safety. The proposed evidence-based intervention will promote adherence to infection control and sterile principles, standard processes, supplies, and procedures during catheter care, reduce unnecessary catheterizations and the duration of catheterizations that pose risks to CAUTIs, and educate and train nurses and other healthcare professionals.

The presentation also highlighted a strategic plan to implement the proposed and listed resources, such as human resources, equipment/supplies, and the finances required to implement the project.

Lastly, an evaluation was discussed. It was important to determine whether the evidence-based bundle intervention achieved the anticipated measurable outcomes, such as increased care quality and patient safety.

The presentation addressed crucial issues that are instrumental to implementing change to improve healthcare quality in a healthcare facility. The stakeholders crucial for the implementation of the project are also included, and their roles are defined.

The strategic plan provided is also vital to guide the stakeholders in implementing the project, while the evaluation plan will determine the effectiveness of the project. The proposed intervention (evidence-based care bundle) was well-researched based on the literature provided.

Thus, intervention is appropriate for preventing and managing CAUTIs among patients with indwelling catheters. One of the main questions that arose was based resources required to implement the project. An example of the question that arose was, “What is your estimated budget to implement the project?” Another question was, “What are the strategies necessary to sustain the change?”

My evidence-based change promotes interprofessional collaboration since it affects interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. Different healthcare professionals should follow the proposed evidence-based care interventions while offering care to patients with indwelling catheters.

Secondly, the presentation was presented to a team of interdisciplinary healthcare providers who provided their input concerning the project. The experience has improved my skills, knowledge, and competency in promoting change to improve care quality and patient safety.

In the future, I will use evidence-based practice to identify appropriate intervention strategies for my patients and make clinical judgments and decisions that affect healthcare delivery (Connor et al., 2022). Thus, fact-based and scientifically proven nursing practice will improve health outcomes.

Capstone Project Change Proposal Presentation

My evidence-based capstone change project aims to prevent and reduce HAIs among hospitalized patients. I presented my project proposal to an interprofessional audience and stakeholders comprising the head of the nursing department, unit manager, and preceptor. I commenced my presentation by highlighting to my audience why I chose a topic on the prevention/reduction of HAIs.

Although standardized care, such as hand washing with soap and water, has been widely adopted, the implementation of EBP will aid to curbs HAIs more effectively and improve patient outcomes (Fregonese et al., 2023). The infections reduce the quality of care and patient safety to poor care outcomes.

They lead to prolonged hospitalization and high patient and facility health expenses. Thus, implementing evidence-based care bundles would be vital to address the problems (García et al., 2021).

I also presented evidence-based information as part of the literature on HAIs. I presented my objective to portray what I wanted to achieve with my change or proposed evidence-based care bundle intervention. I also highlight my strategic plan for implementation, resources required, measurable outcomes, and an evaluation plan that would guarantee I successfully implement and sustain the change.

The overall feedback from my audience was positive, encouraging, and supportive to implement and sustain the proposed change. The audience was attentive and engaged by asking questions throughout my presentation. My preceptor guided the project and emphasized the significance of health promotion during the implementation of my project.

Evidence-based health promotion communicates and incorporates interventions’ effectiveness into practice and policy (Schloemer et al., 2021). My preceptor claimed that collaborating with the patients and their families/caregivers by providing education about the care bundle elements would help implement and sustain the change.

Besides education, the head of the nursing department and the unit manager asked how else the nurses and other healthcare providers would be trained on the care bundle intervention. The unit manager also asked how I would ensure I obtain the maximum resources required to implement the change and how I would use resources optimally. My preceptor also enquired how I would make improvements after conducting the evaluation.

During my practicum, I collaborated with healthcare professionals to meet diverse patient needs. The interprofessional collaboration will have a positive influence on my future professional practice. Through Interprofessional practice, I have learned that care coordination among healthcare professionals and their patients/families and caregivers prevents medical errors, improves patient experience, and delivers better patient outcomes (Davis et al., 2022).

Therefore, I have become a competent nurse practitioner who will deliver high-quality care at affordable costs to save current and future health spending by eliminating operational inefficiencies and workflow redundancies.
