At the start of the practicum, I listed three goals to achieve by the end of the practicum experience. A problematic encounter during the practicum involved a 35-year-old Hispanic male with a history of pathological drinking and substance abuse. The patient was violent and resistant to every psychiatric intervention. In the end, the facility obtained a restraint order for the patient.
